Other underwater survey services from AquaCoustic

AquaCoustic Remote Technologies specializes in inspections of underwater structures such as trunk or mainline sewers, hydro dams, reservoirs, ports and bridge abutments using a wide range of technologies to create accurate condition assessments. AquaCoustic principals have over 30 years experience in assessing underwater conditions. Our clients include many major civil engineering firms and municipalities throughout North America.

Bypass pumping for sewer inspections is no longer needed – save on sewer inspections and cleaning

Bypass pumping operations are difficult, time-consuming and expensive, and involve major health and environmental risks. Using our AquaCoustic Alpha Sewer Inspection System, there’s no need to bypass pump sewer mains to perform an inspection. We can inspect fully or partially charged sewer lines as small as 12” and provide crystal clear video and laser above the water line, and dense sonar data below the water line.

Avoiding bypass pumping and performing inspections in this way has several key advantages:

Bypass pumping risks are avoided:

Dewatering a major sewer line not only involves moving a lot of hazardous material, it also puts the line at risk. Damaged or deteriorated sewer lines can deform and even collapse when the internal water pressure is removed.

Bypass pumping costs are eliminated:

By-passing a trunk sewer line is a major operation involving a lot of equipment and manpower, precautionary health and safety measures, disruption to normal sewer line operations, and disruption of the surrounding area. The AquaCoustic system can be quickly and easily deployed, often remotely from the inspection area, and without the major costs incurred in dewatering a trunk sewer.

Sewer line in-operation conditions can be determined:

Inspecting a sewer line that is in operation provides a true picture of its condition. Bypass pumping and dewatering can introduce variables that may lead to incorrect conclusions about the line’s condition and may affect subsequent remediation.

Sewer line debris build-up can be accurately measured:

Sewer line conditions can be very accurately measured and modeled by the AquaCoustic system. Precise determination of debris or buildup volume and its location, and determination of areas with damaged pipe and areas that do not need cleaning, helps in obtaining accurate cleaning and remediation bids – and can reduce remediation costs.
